This was such a fun Christmas morning....Willow even let us sleep in a little which was amazing! We called Grandma and Angie a little after 8:00 to come over to take part in the fun. When we pointed out Santa's letter and the empty plate of cookies she was very interested and when we finally made our way into the living room her red teddy was the first thing that she saw. The next thing that ensued was a frenzy of wrapping paper and fun. I tried to savor every moment of watching her excitement....I didn't want it to end. Everybody' was feeling the love....She got some really great activity/game kind of presents which she loves. The second half of the day we spent at Grandma's house feasting. Of course Willow got spoiled with more presents. Christmas has taken on whole new meaning for us...it's true that Christmas is all about the kids....

Another trip to church and then back home to open the first present of Christmas.....new pj's! this was always a tradition in our household when I was a kid so it is something that I wanted to continue with my kids. That way they are always camera-ready on Christmas morning....plus it just always made the eve before the big day that much more special...in fresh, new jammies. My brother sent out a really great surprise for us also: a coloring book that he had made from the drawings from one of my Dad's sketchbooks. He created a 'Coloring with Opa' book complete with crayons and a copy for everyone to have. Of course, Willow dove right in and started to color her book right away. After we laid out our letter to Santa along with some cookies and a carrot for Rudolph, she had her usual story time with Dad and then went to sleep....amazingly it didn't even take her that long to fall asleep.....

As the excitement for the big day mounts, Willow put the finishing touches on her wooden ornaments today...going crazy with the glue, buttons, sequins and pompoms. She sure loves to glue things! Anyway, I think they look totally amazing! And I just had to post a picture of the handprint wreath that she made at Caili's house...she added the glitter part to jazz it up a bit....looks awesome!

Of course we had to mark the winter solstice by making a few crafts! Willow painted some wooden ornaments and made some toilet paper roll santas. These are two of her very favorite things to do: painting and glueing. And it is one of my favorite things to do...get Silas to nap and spend some fun time with Willow!

Of course Willow is always willing to prove what a great helper she is in the kitchen...and what with all the baking to be done, she is really putting in the hard work necessary to achieve true "two year old" status....here she is diving into some of that tough stuff right now.

The excitement is mounting...we are crossing off the days on the calendar and eating chocolates from the advent calendar....and each day WIllow gets to do some fun thing that relates to Christmas. Today it was coloring her own snowman jigsaw puzzle....clearly a fun time.

Willow was very excited this year to meet Santa and tell him her truest wish for Christmas: a red teddy bear. She was very excited to put on her 'special Christmas out fit' from Grandma and I was absolutely thrilled that they both sat on his knee without so much as a scowl or a tear. We picked out a toy together to buy and donate to the Santa Clause fund and Adam took the pictures, which I think turned out simply perfect. I look at this picture and it just warms my heart...my beautiful kids...Silas's first Christmas and Willow's third Christmas....it is a completely magical time...

Today another hay ride... this time at Police Point Park. Willow and Adam were super troopers and braved some very cold temperatures (-30C) to take in this wintery activity while I was at home with Silas getting ready my cookie exchange. Adam said it was very beautiful after the huge dump of snow we'd been having for the past few days...so beautiful, in fact, they went on the ride twice! And then indoors to the interpretive centre for some hot chocolate to warm up!

Willow spent an evening at Grandma's house tonight while Adam and I went out to his work Christmas party. Grandma had lots of activities planned including making a Gingerbread house and watching Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. She stayed up pretty late - until past 9:00 pm and was bathed, in her jammies and enjoying a story from Grandma when we arrived to pick her up. She didn't want to go, she was having so much fun! But Grandma was pretty tired out from all the fun...and Willow was alseep as soon as her head hit her pillow at home.

The excitement of December is starting to mount in our household and I am trying my best to add to it by doing a Christmas-y activity each day. Tonight it Willow experienced her first hay ride. She really liked the horses and looking at the starry night sky. She said that the big, yellow, full moon 'looked like a chip' meaning a potato chip....pretty cute interpretation. She also met Santa but was hesitant about sitting beside him. Instead I scooched in with Silas and she sat beside me....but there was no hesitation about the candy cane he gave her...that was gobbled up in a flash!
