Halloween !

Finally getting these pictures posted of Willow's Ladybug Halloween. She had a great time this year trick or treating with Dad...and he had fun too, (last year her missed out because of a Friday night class) Of course, Silas and I were along for the ride as well, but she was the one getting all the loot. I can't count how many times I heard "OMG, she is so cute!" which is great, because I did put a lot of effort into her costume. (ironically, my Mom had given me a bag of red velvet and black felt earlier in the year when she was clearing out stuff and later Willow asked to be a lady bug for Halloween, so it kind of worked out perfectyl) Willow was super gung ho to do the trick or treating this year, but then when it came to some of the over the top goulish decorations (with sound effects and flashing lights) that our neighbors did, she was pretty tentative and scared and she insisted that Adam carry her. Silas and I headed for home, so I could get back in time to give out candy while they forged on, with Willow saying to Dad, "Just ONE more! " for the last couple blocks. We had some friends and kids over for a 'wear off your sugar high' gathering and for the first time, Willow got to eat her fill of candy. She was crazy hyper, but also sweet and fun loving. We had to take all the candy away as the evening wore on which was a good call because she ended up staying up until midnight...her latest night to date. But once her head hit the pillow, she was passed out, snoring in moments. It was great fun, and she really was the prettiest ladybug ever!

Reading Pals

Willow and her friend Caili had a fun play date morning today. They played together remarkably well and spent a lot of time being mellow and looking at books. I actually thought for split second "Three wouldn't be that bad..." but then changed my mind later when Silas was awake and crying and the girls were getting a little bored and jumping on the bed, screaming etc. : )

Down by the River...

We had a great family walk by the river today. It is pretty amazing that 5 minutes away is such a pretty spot. Willow had fun throwing rocks in to the water. We didn't stay out too long because it was a little bit windy and crisp. This is a very cute shot of Willow showing a bit of her recent sass....

Big Reward

Willow showed us what a big girl she is this morning by doing a big poop in her potty all by herself. I was still in bed with Silas when I heard her calling proudly from the bathroom. I had promised her a few days ago that if she was successful in this task that she could have a sucker (she's only ever had one other sucker in her life so this was a very special reward) I did make her eat breakfast first, so i am not that bad of a Mom! She picked out a yellow one and kept saying over and over "hmmmm, tastes like lemon!"

Morning Play

Of course laundry baskets are a classic toddler plaything. I love to watch Willow play with her bears and animals. They are always on some kind of adventure or another. Today the laundry basket was a boat as she sang row row row your boat. The cute thing about her version, instead of 'Life is but a dream..." she sings "Life's a spider dream...."

27 Months

Well, Willow is just cruising through toddlerhood like a real pro. I have seen so many changes in her since Silas's arrival and I know that the whole experience of being a big sister is teaching her so much. Willow's language and communication skills continue to astound me and others. Just this week she had a conversation with Grandma on the phone that could rival any 6 year old. She told Grandma all about what she had been up to for the past few days, moving from topic to topic with ease. She told her that she missed her and when I asked her to give the phone back to me she said no and continued to talk, making hand gestures to accent her point. It was so great and fun to watch! I have been trying to keep her busy with lots of activities and programs this fall. She has been loving her time out to play with her other little toddler buddies at her art, music and story time programs. I wish that there were more free things to do with kids her age here because she just loves it and I love getting out of the house! Reading continues to be one of her favorite daily activities. She is so interested in reading, she has many of her books memorized and will recite them to herself...her version of reading. When she can't remember the exact words, she always asks for help saying, 'umm, Mom, I can't remember the words....' I have stared to explain to her about phonics and the sounds that the letters make and the letters that make the words. I know that it won't be long before she is really reading...so amazing! Now would be a great time for her to learning french...I hope that one day I can get her into a french immersion preschool or kindergarden. She may only be two years old, but this little girl is smart as a whip and bright as a star!

Snow Day!

Well, the first snow of the year came earlier than expected...and hopefully won't stay for long. But Willow was thrilled to giver her snow suit a test run. Good thing Grandma bought her a size 2 last year because it looks like it's gonna fit perfectly and keep her snuggly warm this winter. She had a little fun while Daddy scraped the car before work. At least one of them was smiling! haha! (Just joking...Adam was smiling, too, but more at her than at the snow...)

Fall Harvest

I cleared out most of the garden today. The only thing left to harvest are the beets. We are lucky it has been such a warm autumn. Willow absolutely loves the garden and is a great help picking (and eating) our crops. She sure looks proud of the pumpkin!
