Books Books Books

By far Willow's favorite activity and the thing she is most interested to engage in on her own is her books. I have heard her lately reciting the ones she has memorized as she flips through them on her own. She has taken to looking at every single book on the shelf...which can occupy her for up to an hour at a time. We have two main shelves for her, in her room and in the living room, and in each spot I have been able to have a snooze while she reads. It is so awesome! We recently picked up two more boxes of books that the Library book sale for only $5 each! It was amazing! Considering my tired state these days, we can easily read 10 or 20 books in a day, so it is great to have the variety...of course she has her favorites which must be read over and over (and over and over) again, which is slightly annoying for me. But really, at some moments, if it allows me to just sit on the couch and she is snuggled up quietly, it is not hard at all to read Curious George yet again!

Summertime days....

What does that face mean?

Does Willow look a little bummed that she can no longer sit on Mummy's lap? She quite often reminds me of my 'big, fat tummy'...but I guess that is because I often remind her of it also. She has a pretty hard time sometimes accepting my new limitations...good thing Daddy is here to chase her, give her horsey rides and do all that fun physical stuff. She does love my baby belly, though...she loves to talk and sing to the baby, loves to look at, touch, hug and cuddle my belly and is excited to talk about 'baby brother'. She is having a rough week, sleep-wise so her moods are pretty...well, moody. Ahhhh, my beautiful little Moon-girl.

Rainy Day

Spent the whole day indoors and still had fun. It feels like we did 100 different games and activities: playdoh, coloring, stories, songs, dancing, music on the keyboard, wooden trains with daddy, baking cookies with Mom....

I hear Willow saying funny things everyday and I try to remember to jot them down or capture them. Today she says, smacking her tongue and pointing to her head, "UMMMM, Mommy, can't remember word...." today it was 'Pictures of the _______?'I filled in the word 'Zoo?' and she says. " OH YA.....hippo-maso-mus eating hay!" So we sat down and looked at all of our pictures from our visit to the Calgary Zoo. She loved it.

Oh ya, and the biggest news of the day, Willow did a completely self initiated poo on the potty today. I was very excited and gave her about 10 stickers for that one. She was super proud of herself. We had hit a bit of a disinterested phase with the potty but hopefully now it will feel a bit more fun and exciting again.

Sunshine Days....(finally!)

Lovely day - this is why I like being here...all day spent wandering from playground back to home to playground again in the slowest pace imaginable. It's so great when a beautiful park and playground is literally right across the street. Puttering in the yard, planting seeds, pulling weeds at leisure....my back yard paradise. WIllow is a great help - watering and weeding between her own adventures. She is feeling better for sure, but we are still sticking close to home so a nap or a juice is always very close by.

Today we took Willow to the walk in clinic for the first time. She has had a pretty bad cold for several days and then she woke up coughing lots so it got me a little worried. She wasn't too into the experience...I think the briskness of the doctor, especially when he checked her throat, really freaked her out and made her cry. He ended up giving her some antibiotics and said that it was a sinus infection but hadn't moved into her chest so that was good. So now for the next little while, we are sticking close to home and not really playing with friends to avoid spreading the germy love. The good thing about staying close to home is that we have two awesome playgrounds directly across the street from us so it is still easy to get out and enjoy the sun. That along with extra naps and and lots of juice and I am sure that Willow's snotty head will be clearing up in no time. In the meantime we are both just being mellow, drinking tons of juice, napping lots and wiping a lot of snot.
