Reunited with Daddy!

Ahhhh, all is right in the world...we are together again as a family. I agree with Adam...a week is too long for us to be apart!

Buddies....

The fun continues...

Road Trip!

Well, we tried as hard as we could to entertain ourselves at home without Daddy and now we were hitting the road to Calgary to hang with friends and meet Adam at the airport in a couple days. It was interesting driving to Calgary by myself with Miss Willow. She was pretty good, she played and stared out the window, snoozed a bit, cried for a spell in which I had to pull over and give some cuddles and then fell asleep for the rest of the drive. It was pretty great, I woke her up when we pulled into Lina's for some lunch before heading another 5 minutes down the road to Dana and Jay's place. Of course Willow was so excited to be visiting with Ada, Bronwn and Casey...the first thing she said when she woke up was "FRIENDS!" It is always great to arrive at their familiar place...it is like our home away from home in Calgary. The first thing the girls did was get dressed up in fairy dresses and get busy with the playing. I was grateful for the busy-ness and chaos of a three kid home...and the adult conversation....it had been an oddly busy but lonely 5 days at home without Adam. I love this pic of Willow and Bronwyn eating their yogurt. Willow is so stoked to be sitting in an adult chair, right beside big girl Bronwyn with her very own spoon and yogurt. I can just hear her exclaiming "Willow can do it, ALL BY SELF!"

Birthday Party!

Well, this week Willow and I are on our own as Adam has had to go out of town for 6 days. It is my first venture into single parenting so I am sure it will be both tiring and eye opening. We wanted to stay b as busy as possible and that means having some exciting thing to d every day. This Saturday it was a birthday party play date for Willow's little buddy, Eliena. She is two! Jen, her Mom, has just moved back to the Hat and they weren't quite moved into their new place yet, so we had our little play date over here at our place. The girls had lots of fun doing some crafts and playing. Of course the highlight was the cupcakes and candles, which it seems that Willow is becoming an old pro a these days. It was a great morning, everyone had fun and nap time came on fast and easy, despite the sugar.

Mama's Little Helper...

The easiest way to get anything done is to give Willow a role in it. I find making supper the biggest drag of drags some days, so it's best if we both just roll up our sleeves and get right in there. She loved cleaning the mushrooms for me on this day...and she did a great job!

21 Months

Time flies...another month has just whizzed by. Willow loves to play with her felts....she loves to color all over her body with them. Her love for body and adornment and body art is a bit disconcerting considering the direction that subculture is moving in these days. By the time she is a teenagers who knows what will have taken over where tattooing has left off. Well, I shudder to think. But clearly you can tell that she was playing with Adam during this photo shoot because Mom doesn't let her color all over her face....her feet and belly and hands, sure, but face, not usually. Good thing these felts are washable and come off with just water....even comes out of clothes...and off the walls ( I hope! ) This is a picture of our little smurfette...she looks like she is having fun! Life with an almost two year old is definitely never boring!

Easter Fun!

The sunny spring weather really got us into the right spirit for Easter this year. Willow loves crafts, so I knew that we would have to do Easter Eggs. And we had been reading so many Easter/spring books from the library about the Easter Bunny and Peter Cottontail...she was very excited to learn about that mystery first hand. It was a great day, with a perfect balance of excitement, fun and treats....although Mum and Dad probably could've used a little more sleep....our little Easter Bunny had a very hard time falling asleep the night before and was up very early the next morning.

The first thing that she told me was "Heard...Easter.... Bunny!..." and to see her amazement at the carrot that was eaten and the Easter basket that was left for her was too priceless. Our Walk at police Point Park was perfect and the live chicks and bunnies that they had on hand made Willow completely reluctant to leave. After some well needed mid day naps we headed out for the final leg of the Easter Egg Hunt followed by a wonderfully non-traditional early dinner at Grandma's House. You can check out the whole day in pictures right here.

All in a Day....

All this and much much more coming to you everyday from Willow's World. Actually according to the camera these were taken at 8:20 am and 8:40 am on a Thursday morning....no wonder the days sometimes seem long...but it feels like everything is moving at warp speed...as Willow would say "SO MANY!"

Willow's New Sandbox Table...

Willow is so thrilled with her new sand/water table. Adam put it together and so far we have just filled up both sides with sand. It is a great activity to have on the porch...she can play with it endlessly while I work in the yard or just watch her and enjoy her and sun.

Willow Makes a Butterfly.....

Willow, Boobies and Sleep....

I think about writing so much more than I ever seem to get the chance to do. I want to record all the little details of life as they are happening. But I want to experience those moments even more than I want to document them so I usually find myself doing this in retrospect. Willow is basically completely weaned now, save the two small boobie 'sessions' that she has, once before her nap and once before sleeping at night. She still bugs me and whines and cries for it sometimes, especially at night, but even that is fading off. She really isn't nursing as I am pretty sure there is very little or no milk coming out, so it is just for comfort. I have this very special technique of dealing with it a 3 am...I roll over and pull the covers tight around myself and ignore her! Haha. Sounds cruel, but a Mama's gotta do what a Mama's gotta do. That is if I am in her bed at all...some nights she doesn't even come to wake me up, so I wake up early in the morning and find that I am still in my own bed...how novel!! The big problem now is that I am getting a lot bigger and am in more need of sleeping room, what with all the pillows propped up around my swollen belly, that Adam and I are just too squished and uncomfortable in our queen sized bed. I knew this was coming and I have been dreaming about a king bed for a long time....and that time is now. I am just totally put off from buying a new bed because for the gross chemical flame retardants that they coat new mattresses in...but the idea of a used bed is yucky too. I have researched natural beds but they are crazy expensive...what to do???? Anyhoo.... back to Willow, she is doing really well, sleeping in a lot better ever since I put up curtains that block out the morning sun completely. We are back to the 8 am (or later on the weekends) wake ups, which I can completely live with, so that is a relief. And I am talking to her about the new baby all the time, she loves to kiss my belly and give baby hugs and whatnot. Today while I was having a wee soak in the tub, I told Adam to come in a take a look at the swelling belly...so he and Willow had a look-see and Willow said 'Baby...belly..."as usual, then she said.' boobies...baby needs boobies, only baby...' so I know she is getting it. Sometimes when she asks and asks, and I keep saying no, she gets pretty sad so I have to rock her and sing her to sleep, which actually works. It's just more work than it used to be, just lying there and nursing. Bu tI can see that she is well on her way to being an independent sleeper. It feels good to know that soon those nights of sleeping all the way through will be happening more and more...just in time for me to start all over again with Sunbeam baby. That's fine...I just don't think I can do two at once!
