Autumn Walk.....

Sundays are so nice because it is Adam's only day off at this point. We all get to hang out and do some fun, leisurely stuff. Here, Willow is enjoying the coolish fall air as we stroll to the coffee shop on Sunday morning. I love the hat she is wearing....the fuzzy fringe just accents her already amazing cuteness! Today Willow is 11 weeks old! And of course I love her more this week than ever! She is now holding toys and attempting to chew them as well as chew her hands. She always holds on to her blankets when she is in the stroller. She smiles all the time, at Adam and I and at Grandma and Opa. She is just the best little one ever!

Story Time!

Today Willow and I went to storytime at the library. We really enjoyed ourselves. The librarian sang all kinds of songs and made little puppets sing and showed us little hand dances. All in all, I think Willow was pretty stoked to be there and see all the action. She was really excited to see some other babies too. By the end of it she was pretty pooped and she just fell asleep on my shoulder while I took the chance to meet some other Moms. I think that storytime will definitely be a part of our weekly ritual. oh, also, we went and weighed in today and it seems that Willow is using up those milkies on brain power now that she is awake so much rather than just bulking up...she is 15lbs 10oz, only up 6oz from last week.

10 Weeks!

Willow is two and a half months old. She is rapidly figuring out about toys and playing. She almost has the concept of using her hands to play figured out. What she definitely has the hang of is chewing on her own hands and drooling - which leads me to believe that those little teeth that I can see the shape of underneath those gums are getting ready to pop through.
Each day with her is such an mini adventure. As she figures out seeing and smiling and learns more about herself in this world...it is so interesting and fun for me. I wonder if she ever questions why her Mom and Dad are following her around with a mini silver box all the time...yes, our third eye, the camera. I used to be afraid that if I didn't capture that special moment, the smile, the laugh, the look, I might just miss it forever. But now I realize that all these moments of joy and discovery will always be with us...and they will only increase, not decrease, over time...It's great to try and capture them with a camera to share with the people who aren't here, but it is more important to just enjoy those moments completely and treasure them. Sometimes I love to just lay and stare into Willow's eyes. I know she likes this, too. It's our pre-verbal communication. For me it is like looking into a time tunnel-mirror. I see little bits of myself and Adam in her eyes and I also see into a future that is hers alone...as an amazing, complete individual. I guess these lactating love hormones really do their job!

Willow Walk....

Here's us heading out on one of our evening walks. The Fall weather has been so nice...the leaves are turning to their beautiful fall jewel tones and the air is still warm...it is perfect for strolling. Willow is growing and changing so fast. She weighed in at 15lbs 4ozs today. She can hold her head up and recognize Mum and Dad. She is getting stronger and loves to sit up right - with a little help from us. She loves going for walks and staring at the trees. I love this time with her - it feels special, magical. I know that as we gear up for winter, when we come out of the dark tunnel in the spring, she is going to be a completely different baby. The thought of these fleeting moments makes me that much more eager to absorb this time and hold it as a precious treasure. Life is so delicate, such a gift...and watching this little one grow and emerge into the world reminds me of that. Being a Mom is so cool!

Willow's Morning Smiles

What was once elusive is now a common occurance...but it never loses it's magic!

Willow and Perdy

Willow started her first friendship this week with little Perdy Brown. She learned so much from Perdy, who is already a very worldly baby at a tender 7 months old. Willow seemed to get the hang of just hanging around, watching Perdy play with toys and babble and crawl. Sometimes in the backseat of the car, she would curiously watch Perdy cry. Here is a picture of them in the matching outfits that my Mom bought them. Willow seems quite pleased with everything and Perdy seems interested in her new friend too! We had a lovely walk through Police Point Park and a little wander around the Interpretive Centre. It was so great to have visitors already. I hope that Willow and I get to meet some new friends soon here in Medicine Hat!

Willow in the park

Willow, Adam and I spent a beautiful Sunday afternoon at Echo Dale park with Lola and Perdy. Our visit with them has been so much fun. Hey for all of you who may have been wondering, Medicine Hat is a great place to visit, and if you do, we have a spare room for you! If you have your doubts, just ask Lola about it! By the way, people, I know that you are looking at the blog thanks to my new hit counter, but no one is leaving comments. It's more fun for me if I get the occasional feedback so let me know you are out there! Hint hint! And come on down for a visit too!

Sweet Little One...

Ok Ok, I love my baby...I am completely head over heels in Love. I think I mentioned that before, didn't I? Well, breastfeeding really builds that connection...I had heard this and figured I knew what that meant but I don't think it is something that you can really know unless you experience it. So here is a pic of the little boobah after a good session of milkies. It is just amazing how she changes and grows everyday. Today she was smiling at Grandma and Opa, much to their delight. She doesn't even know the joy she spreads! She is really tuned into my face now, and she smiles at me alot, which is great! Oh and did I mention that Willow's favorite thing in the entire world is the bathtub? She is a rampant little fish, splishing and splashing like crazy in the water! It is really great to see! Oh, we took Willow for her weekly weigh-in and this week's result: 14lbs and 7ozs. I think she is slowing down a little! *Phew*

Who are you grinning at?

Willow is almost 2 months old now. She is so much fun! Even at those oh-so-early morning hours. She likes to get up and play and when she is sure that Mum is really awake, she settles in for a nice morning snooze. She really has this baby-thing down to a 'T'. I am always trying to capture that ever elusive baby smiles...this one comes close....but it is a little more like a maniacal grin than an outright smile. We love being parents, we are the perfect threesome! Yesterday we went to the college with Adam, grocery shopping and out for dinner for Adam's birthday and she stayed perfectly mellow wrapped in her snuggly.. I have not seen any other Mamas in Medicine Hat wearing their baby so I find I get quite a bit of attention. I always attribute it to our exceptionally beautiful baby....but it could just be that prairie folks think I am a weirdo for wanting to carry her around everywhere. No worries to us, though. We have lots of fun doing everything together!
